IMX IS WORKING ON LOW COST MECHANICAL RESPIRATOR
WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF A HIGH LEVEL RESPIRATOR:
In recent years, Industrias Maxi S.A. has allocated a significant part of its resources and its staff to developing R & D & i projects in the field of machinery related to the automotive, aeronautical and food industries. The design of new machinery that carries out new production processes or improves existing ones and the development of different prototypes constitutes a very important part of our activity, included into our strategic plan.
The COVID-19 outbreak began in Spain at the end of February 2020 and is growing exponentially. At the date of writing this report, Spain has more than 1,240,000 people affected and more than 40,000 dead, according to official data from the government of Spain. This and other pandemics that may come have in common the ignorance of its affectation and the triggering of symptoms that lead to pulmonary failure, septic shock, multi-organ failure and even risk of death.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Industrias Maxi contributed with our 3D plastic devices, manufacturing protections and masks supports for our heroes, and supporting to the Non profit organization “Banco de alimentos”, but it was not enough for us, according to our industrial capacity.
The signal that made us get moving quickly was to follow closely what was happening in our community, Castilla y León, our country and worldwide. As of the date of writing this report, we are in November 2020 and we are into the second wave of infections from this pandemic. In this way, Industrias Maxi decided to launch an R&D project with the aim of obtaining a new mechanical respirator with an automated procedure that helps mitigate the situation described, in the absence of a vaccine, of this pandemic or others that still we do not know.
The project consists of the conception, design, manufacture, assembly, testing and approval of a new model of automated procedure mechanical respirator, which allows the functions of a high-end hospital plant respirator, that is to say, of great durability and reliability, but with new features with adjustable capacity or flexible technology and automated regulation, among others. On the other hand, a drastic reduction in the cost of production with respect to existing technology is also sought, so that it is more affordable and accessible to health centres or residences for the elderly, in which internists and developing countries are available.
Our R&D department faces a project with high technological development and innovation based on an exhaustive study of current technology to seek new solutions with the achievement of a prototype of an automated procedure mechanical respirator with features that do not exist on the market in these moments. Now this project is real and is under a patent pending.
The purpose of the respirator is to have a reliable means, of low average cost that allows to have means to assist breathing with similar performance to ICU respirators, but at a much more contained cost.
